The first time I tried it straight, and the second time I mixed a bit into my cheese dip for the nachos and brought those up to 11. Lastly, the only hot sauce I tried was hot but not unbearable (the "worst" rated one for high heat levels) and quite flavorful. Lots of people, yes, but not noisy, comfortable enough, and just a tremendous deal. That second time, though, with half the crowd? Perfect dining experience. The sodas weren't super fizzy, but I only went twice, which isn't a great sample size, and they took care to not give me ice when I requested it (I hear the refills are free, you just have to ask). The ordering process was quick but not rushed or insincere, and anyone I went out of my way to interact with was friendly. The people have only ever been nice to me, it's kept clean for how busy it is, and they absolutely have dealing with a line mastered, because it looked like a fire hazard the first time, with people standing around like idiots trying to find a place to sit, and everyone else practically stacked on top of each other, but what looked like eight people ahead of us was literally gone in fewer than five minutes. It's not soft at all, not stale either, it just conveniently only falls away where you choose, which is important when they've stuffed it with so much food. By contrast, at TF on TT, when you bite a shell, just the part that you bit comes off. So basically I get two messy bites and then I'm eating nachos and making a mess. If I make shells at home, the second I bite the whole thing explodes, but I love crunchy too much in comparison to soft to ever do anything about it. Perhaps the most remarkable thing is the shells, though. Somewhat surprisingly, the tacos here for technically not that much more are as much meat as you'd want to deal with in a long, drawn-out taco of the scale it is, but then is a deliberate mix of the other ingredients. Even though Taco Bell is cheaper, they give you (out of necessity) hardly anything expensive like the meat and make it mostly lettuce in a tortilla. My relative who took me both times said, quite accurately, "Both of these tacos are like two at-home tacos," except at home I couldn't fill it nearly as well. The quality of the food for the deal (which is the only thing I've had on the menu so far) is so high, and the portions so generous, that I have to imagine it's a loss leader. I never knew about Tijuana Flats or Taco Tuesday, but I've gone twice now.
